## Release Highlights
- Django 2.2 was a [long-term support release](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/internals/release-process/#term-long-term-support-release). [Extended support](https://www.djangoproject.com/download/#ft2) ended 2022-04-11.
- Django 2.2 [supports Python](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/releases/2.2/#python-compatibility) 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 (*as of 2.2.8*), and 3.9 (*as of 2.2.17*)
    - If you're upgrading to Django 2.2, it's worth the time to look at what's new in Python [3.8](https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.8.html) and [3.9](https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.9.html)
- The ability to create custom database constraints [was added](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/releases/2.2/#constraints). More details are available [here](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/ref/models/constraints/#module-django.db.models.constraints).

## Upgrade Gotchas
- If you're using a third-party database backend, you [may need to make some changes](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/releases/2.2/#database-backend-api).
